Quantitative Traders
Quantitative Traders focus on creating, backtesting, and optimizing trading strategies. Their primary role is to analyze data, identify trading opportunities, and develop models that can be applied in live markets. Using a combination of statistical methods, financial theory, and data analysis, Quantitative Traders aim to generate returns while managing risk effectively.
Quantitative Developers
Quantitative Developers focus on the technical side of trading, building and automating trading systems. They also conduct quantitative research to build trading models into automated systems. This role involves a mix of programming, mathematical modeling, and data engineering to create robust systems that can handle live market conditions.
Analyst Program
The Analyst Program is the starting point for those looking to join the Team Divisions. In this semester-long program, students learn the basics of quantitative trading and development, work on building trading models, and gain hands-on experience to prepare for real-world projects and competitions.
Teams
The Quantitative Trading Club at USF consists of two core divisions: Quantitative Traders and Quantitative Developers. Members in these divisions work on real-world projects within the club, such as building trading models, conducting quantitative research, and developing automating systems. In addition to internal projects, team members also participate in national competitions related to trading and quantitative development. To join the Team Divisions, students must meet performance criteria, showcasing their skills through live projects and trading competitions.
